Construction sites appear in every type of urban and rural landscape. Something each construction site has in common is the possibility of water as an obstruction. Effective dewatering and treatment will mitigate construction delays and create a safer working environment.
If the site is running along or constructing a utility corridor and water is filling the trench it must be drained and the area dewatered. Likewise any existing water onsite such as ponds, retention areas, drains, or other standing water must be removed and the sediment dewatered to provide a safe working environment and adequate foundation for continued construction.
Typically, dewatering requires the use of pumping from rim ditches, trenches or well points and is usually completed prior to and during excavation. The water is then treated to remove contaminants before discharge to land, surface water or storm sewers
We provide mobile units including sand pods, bag filters, frac or storage tanks, pumps and any other required mobile equipment, and the expertise to run the project. We can also treat the water prior to discharge if water treatment is required for effluent compliance.
Mobile treatment solutions for the removal of contaminants may include suspended solids, organic hydrocarbons, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), heavy metals, lead, iron, emulsions, algae, dyes, ultra-trace mercury, selenium and more. Our innovative suspended solids removal system (SRS) is designed to treat flow rates from 100-400 gmp. Multi units can be used for higher flow rates 10 gallons per minute to 6,000 gallons per minute and water volumes of 10,000 gallons to over 100 million gallons. This system does not require constant supervision and can monitor the discharge water quality continuously. It can also be set-up to automatically shut down or reprocess the water if appropriate discharge limitations are not met.
Our diverse, mobile treatment systems are enclosed making them ideal for sites with noise restrictions and can also address odor and air emission issues to ensure compliance.
Underground Storage Tank - Installation and Removal
Construction site and trench dewatering is a crucial part of any underground storage tank installation or removal project.
When underground storage tanks (USTs) are removed and/or installed, the excavation pit often must undergo construction dewatering. The resulting water is often contaminated and must be trucked off-site, or treated prior to discharge on-site.
Depending on the volume of dewatering water generated from these underground storage tank, on-site water treatment can be the only economically viable alternative. The groundwater treatment equipment required to meet discharge limits can vary depending on what contaminants are in the water.
